HOW TO TURN YOUR TELEPHONE INTO A MONEY MACHINE

If making money in MLM could be summed up in one word,
it would be ‘COMMUNICATION’

In order to build a network and make a good income from
MLM, we need to communicate with as many people as possible.
So what’s the best communication tool we have? The
telephone. If you want to make a success of your MLM
business, then you need to learn to look on the telephone
as your best friend and your most valuable asset. In fact,
if you’re involved, or thinking
of becoming involved with network marketing, then your
telephone should be thought of as your ‘money machine’.

We’ve all heard of the ‘ten ton telephone syndrome’,
and nearly all of us have it to some degree. Basically,
most of us don’t like to pick up the phone and ‘pitch’
someone else about our business opportunity.

Why? Usually because we’re worried about what the other
person is going to think of us, or we’re frightened of
rejection.

Firstly, if you are worried about what the other person
will think of you, then perhaps you don’t have 100%
belief in what you’re doing. It’s vital that you BELIEVE
in your MLM business and it’s this belief that will give
you the confidence to pick up the phone and tell the
world all about it.

Ask yourself these two questions:
1.Do I know enough about the company, the pay plan and
most importantly, the products, to be able to talk about
them with confidence? If not, then spend time educating
yourself on all the important aspects of your MLM business.

2.Am I so enthusiastic about what I have to offer, that I
want the world to know about it? If you DON’T feel like
that, then do some research and find an opportunity which
DOES make you feel like that.

Once you’ve found an MLM opportunity, that makes you feel
happy and excited, and you’ve spent enough time studying
the important aspects of it, you’re 90% of the way to
overcoming your fear of telephone prospecting.
The other 10% comes from doing it!

Five tips for telephone prospecting

1. Expect to be nervous! Even seasoned telephone
prospectors get a rush of adrenalin when making that
first call of the day. To help combat this, always
write a short script for yourself – even if you know
what you want to say. This way, if your mind goes blank
because you’re nervous, you can look at the script.
Write out slightly different scripts for different
groups of prospects.

2.Decide on a time, which suits you best each day
to make your calls – and stick to it. Make it priority,
because after all, if you don’t tell people about your
opportunity, then no one will join!

3.Keep calling for at least one hour at a time and
don’t be put off if you don’t get a positive response
straight away.You may have to get ten not interested
before you get one who is interested. Based on the law
of averages, if you tell enough people about your
business, some will definitely join.

4.Make sure you keep good records of who you have
called and when you are due to call them back.
I use 4”x 3” record cards and write down the prospects
name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
I record the date I first contacted them, and the
pre-arranged date to call back.

5.Always do what you say you’re going to do.
In other words, if you arrange to call someone back
at 6pm on Friday, then make sure you do. If you don’t
bother to keep your appointments at this stage, you
lose credibility with your prospects. The same goes
if you have promised to send out information,
either by post or e-mail. If you tell your
prospect that you are sending something today, then send
it today, not tomorrow.

So if you’re one of the 90% who feel uncomfortable about
calling prospects on the telephone, then get BELIEF and
get STARTED. I promise that once you do, you’ll lose
your fear and after a short time, you’ll probably even
begin to enjoy it!
